We all want to keep ourselves, our friends and our loved ones safe, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Through continued mask wearing, social distancing, and frequent handwashing, we are all doing our part to reduce the spread of this disease.
As careful as we are, more and more of us find ourselves exposed to COVID-19 as the length of the pandemic continues. If you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to a person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, we’ve compiled current quarantine recommendations.
If You Have Had a COVID-19 Positive Result
- STAY HOME. Do not go to work, school, the store, etc; you may go outside in your yard or for a walk in your neighborhood as long as you are at least 6 feet away from others.
- You may leave your home after:
- 10 days have passed since symptoms started
- Symptoms have improved
- You are fever free without the help of fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours
Household members and close contacts should quarantine for 14 days from the last date you had contact with them.
- If you live in the same household, and are able to isolate yourself from your household members, their quarantine countdown starts when your isolation period begins.
If You Have Had a Negative COVID-19 or a Pending Result:
- STAY HOME. Do not go to work, school, the store, etc.; you may go outside in your yard or for a walk in your neighborhood as long as you are at least 6ft away from others.
- UNLESS you have been given another specific diagnosis that would explain your symptoms (e.g., strep*), you may leave your home after:
- Symptoms have improved for at least 24 hours
- Fever free without the help of fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours
If you were exposed to someone who is COVID positive, you should quarantine for 14 days from the last date of exposure, even if your COVID test is negative.
